Copyright on the digital market

It seems that European Parliament finally realized that it is necessary to mitigate obligations imposed on the online content sharing platforms. The Parliament has reached a new agreement on the wording of the controversial Directive on Copyright, which was introduced before. If the Directive is adopted with the new wording then for example memes or GIFs can be shared freely, including hyperlinks to news articles. Similarly, the absurd obligation of the specific upload filters making life for SMEs difficult will be omitted. Lighter regime will be especially applicable to startups – companies younger than three years and with turnaround lower than 10 mil EUR.
