Discharge from debts: Will review trials (soon) be held online?

The Ministry of Justice intends to initiate a legislative change that should simplify the review trials in debt relief. Although judicial proceedings conducted via video conference are now a well-established practice, according to the Ministry of Justice the regulation contained in the Rules of Civil Proceedings does not apply to the review trials conducted under the Insolvency Act. Therefore, insolvency trustees will have no choice but to wait for the relevant amendment. On one hand, the change would save them time and costs, but on the other hand, it would be also beneficial to debtors who could thus participate in the review trial for example from home.
