New law regarding electronic transactions

On September 19, 2016, Act no. 297/2016 Coll. came into effect which provides for the services creating trust in electronic transactions with the aim to facilitate negotiations and dealings with authorities. The Act follows up on the eIDAS Directive, which is to enable authorities in each member state to verify the identity of any EU citizen electronically and, on the other hand, to enable citizens to take care of their official matters remotely. Electronic signature will be also part of the electronic ID card with a chip. By means of the new ID card, citizens will be able to obtain their data from the population register, tax portal and from other official systems. The Ministry of Interior anticipates to start issuing the new ID card at the beginning of 2017.
